So, I'm going through this discipleship course book that has parallel reading with the book, Spiritual Leadership by J. Oswald Sanders. Not exactly light reading, but perfect for this time in my life.
Funny how God is like, working these things out... :)
In the book, it talks about the leader's prayer life and many other attributes of good Christian leaders. While the idea of being a Christian leader with my little pinch of wisdom is daunting, there is still so much I get out of each chapter.
Back to prayer- a week or two ago I finished the section devoted to this topic. It was like a slap to the face and a punch in my gut. I'm sooooo weak in this area. I try to get away with passionless prayers too often. It's easy for me to think that I'll put off going deeper in prayer for a day I have more time set aside. But, that's not really how that works.
The only way to learn how to pray, is to pray, right?
And getting to know how great, big, and wonderful my God is.. that's my job. It's my life's purpose.
No one starts off being good at praying. It's something built on. It's your intimate relationship with God. You open up and let God in; and He, like the good Father He is, will guide us and take us to the deeper level of intimacy.
Towards the end of the lesson, I got this really good, spelled-out, how-to-get-going, A.C.T.S. prayer guide that's really helpful in getting me to a place where I can focus on what to pray. Here's my version to share:
And here are a few pictures of what else I've been up to recently, for those who are curious:
